Prof John Sodeau’s Eva Philbin Award Lecture, ‘Every Breath You Take’, has been recorded and is on YouTube.

It has also been put it up on the UCC website.

Innovation 2020

The Institute of Chemistry of Ireland welcomes Innovation 2020, the new government strategy for research and development in the areas of science and technology. The Institute particularly welcomes the government’s commitment to increase total investment in R&D in Ireland to 2.5% of GNP which would result in over €5 billion being invested per year by 2020.

The clear investment in human capital, infrastructure and Frontiers research represented by the significant increase in postgraduate and post-doctoral research funding and a successor to the programme for research in third level institutions, will allow Ireland to continue to compete for funding at an international level.

While this new strategy is good news for the research community, it also good news for the country as a whole since the outputs from this research investment will translate into innovations across all aspects of Irish society including health, technology, environment as well as the economy through direct foreign investment in the commercial sector and increased employment.

The 70th Annual General Meeting of the Institute of Chemistry of Ireland will be held at the Royal College of Surgeons, Stephen's Green, Dublin 2, on Thursday, April 19th 2018, at 7.00 p.m.
